I just finished watching and listening to Eso Que Tu Haces, Lido Pimiento's hauntological re-imagining of Columbia's colonial past, the heat of her controlled anger touching me through the many layers I wear on this icy, grey London day. Her music and visual performance work together to create a visually striking, disturbing whole, the eccentric folk/urban clothing and colourful, stylised dance routines belying a darker reality. The dichotomies in this artistic offering are deliberate, although quirky and bright on the surface, a melancholic heart drives the beat. Makes you smile, makes you sad. Here's Lido!
